Illescas fired shots towards law enforcement before running into a nearby McDonald’s and barricading himself in the bathroom.

No deputies were struck by any of the bullets.

After emptying the building of employees and patrons, FMPD and LSCO set up a perimeter around the building. When SWAT was unable to talk Illescas into surrendering, gas was deployed and he was forcibly taken into custody.

Illescas’ sentencing is scheduled for January 30th, 2023.
