NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man found himself in a not-so-sticky but probably very itchy situation after deputies said he hid in the attic insulation of a North Fort Myers home.
On Sunday, Bruce Davis (44) was attempting to burglarize a home on 4th Way. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), when deputies arrived, Davis was walking above them in the attic.
Deputies then noticed a five-gallon bucket placed under the attic’s access point and insulation debris littering the floor. LCSO said deputies had to use nonlethal gas because Davis refused to come down.
After numerous attempts, it was time to call in backup. Deputies and a K9 unit went into the attic and found Davis submerged in the insulation.
According to LCSO, Davis had his face against the air duct system in order to breathe air.
LCSO investigators also found a broken window, appliances being used and tools all throughout the home.
Davis was charged with burglary and resisting an officer. According to LCSO, he has a long criminal history with charges such as theft and numerous drug charges.
