FORT MYERS, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by two vehicles while trying to cross the street on his mini scooter in Fort Myers Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 23-year-old man riding a mini scooter disobeyed pedestrian signals and tried to cross the road near the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Daniels Parkway at around 8:10 a.m.

A sedan and pickup truck went through a green light while traveling south on Six Mile Cypress Parkway, crossing the intersection of Daniels Parkway.

A man on his scooter entered the roadway and was hit by the sedan. After the initial collision, the pedestrian was hit by the pickup truck, FHP said.

The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
