PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — A Punta Gorda man was found guilty of numerous drug charges stemming from a 2020 incident.

According to the state attorney’s office, Troy McClary Jr. (32) was stopped by Charlotte County deputies as he was pulling into his barbershop.

McClary Jr. then jumped out of his rental car and ran from them. Deputies were able to catch him shortly after and search him.

The state attorney’s office said deputies found $6,754 in cash, two cell phones and marijuana in his front pockets.

CCSO deputies also searched the car and found a digital scale in the front passenger door and two bags of marijuana in the center console. In the back, investigators two big vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana and cocaine.

McClary Jr. is scheduled to get sentenced on May 31.
