COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A woman died in a car crash on Saturday afternoon in Collier County.

Around 2:20 p.m., a 74-year-old woman was driving south on US-41, nearing Barefoot Williams Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the woman attempted to make a U-turn in front of an approaching car.

A 68-year-old Naples man was traveling north on US-41 when the front of his car crashed into the right side of the oncoming vehicle.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The man had minor injuries. No other passengers were involved.

The FHP states this crash is still under investigation.
