Local Tips

πŸ…ΏοΈ Parking

Parking is limited on Fort Myers Beach, especially in season. Arrive early or use the park-and-ride on San Carlos Blvd. Estero Island has metered lots near the beach.

πŸ¦€ Stone Crab Season

Stone crab season runs October 15 through May 15. A must-eat. Look for "fresh claws" signs at waterfront restaurants β€” Joe's Stone Crab ships from the area.

🐚 Shelling

Sanibel Island is world-famous for shelling. The "Sanibel Stoop" is real. Best shelling at low tide, early morning, after storms. Bring a mesh bag.

β›ˆοΈ Summer Storms

Afternoon thunderstorms are common June–September. Hit the beach by 9am, wrap up by 2pm, and plan indoor activities mid-afternoon. Storms usually pass quickly.

🚒 Water Taxis

Water taxis run between Fort Myers Beach, Matanzas Pass, and some waterfront restaurants. Great way to skip parking on peak days.

πŸ—οΈ Hurricane Ian Recovery

Fort Myers Beach was hit hard by Hurricane Ian in 2022. Many businesses have reopened or rebuilt β€” check listings for current status. The community is resilient and the beaches are beautiful.
